Questions people ask
Is it legal for members of Congress to trade stocks?
Yes. Under the STOCK Act, members of Congress may trade individual stocks — they're only required to disclose each trade publicly, usually within 45 days. Vigil surfaces those disclosures so you can see them the moment they're filed.
Can I track Nancy Pelosi's stock trades?
Yes. High-profile members of Congress like Nancy Pelosi file the same public trade disclosures as everyone else. In Vigil you can follow a specific representative or senator and get an alert the moment a new trade of theirs is disclosed.
How can I see what stocks Congress bought?
Congressional trades are public disclosures. Vigil ingests those filings and shows each representative's and senator's stock trades in a clean feed, with alerts whenever a new trade is disclosed. This directory lists every stock and every member we track.
How soon do members have to disclose a trade?
The STOCK Act requires disclosure within 45 days of a transaction. Each trade on this site shows both the transaction date and the filing date, so you can see exactly how long a member took to disclose it.
Where does this data come from?
Every trade here is sourced from the official periodic transaction reports (PTRs) members of Congress file with the House and Senate. Amounts are disclosed as ranges, so dollar figures shown are estimates based on those ranges.
