The closest games to Episode are Choices, Chapters, Romance Club and Whispers: story apps where you pick choices and customize a character. If you want one with no gem-style currency, the only one we found is Choice of Games, which sells titles one by one. Plot Twister, which we make, is different again: an AI story game where you steer the characters instead of being one.

How we chose

We picked apps that are live in the US App Store and fit the way Episode works: a library of stories, with choices that change a scene. We read each listing's description and its In-App Purchases list in October 2026. Where a company's own site said nothing about pricing, we say so. We did not read reviews and do not rank by quality. We did not check whether any of these apps changed what its currencies buy.

What Episode is

Episode's listing describes a library of more than 150,000 stories, a figure the company gives itself, where you customize an avatar, build relationships and pick between endings. You can also write and publish your own. Its site calls it a mobile storytelling network and platform. The listing is rated 13+ (US App Store, October 2026) and lists Gems, Passes and a monthly VIP subscription as in-app purchases.

Choices is a story game from Pixelberry Studios where you read chapter by chapter, pick your character's look and make decisions in conversations. The listing says options and their effects vary by story. It says some choices and outfits need Diamonds, which you can earn or buy, and Keys open chapters. Chapters: Interactive Stories

Chapters, from Crazy Maple Studio, describes itself as an interactive story app where every choice shapes your journey. The listing features an original Mafia romance, and says choices lead to different experiences. Its in-app purchases list diamonds, tickets, Chapters VIP and a day pass. Romance Club: Stories I Play

Romance Club lists dozens of original stories across fantasy, drama, supernatural and mystery, with multiple endings and a look you pick. Whispers: Interactive Stories

Whispers, from Gamehaus, offers romance and fantasy stories including vampire and werewolf characters, with outfit customization. Its listing lists gems, Whispers VIP and other packs as in-app purchases. It fits you if you want paranormal romance in a chapter format. App Store listing

Choice of Games

Choice of Games publishes over 100 interactive novels. They are text-only, with no graphics or sound effects, and you create your own character. Its site links Steam, the App Store and Google Play, and most games have a Play Online link. The in-app purchases shown on its App Store page are individual titles, with no currency, and its FAQ says some games sell extra content. This is a common search, so here is what the listings show. Gems or diamonds appear in the in-app purchases of Episode, Choices, Chapters, Romance Club and Whispers. Tickets or keys appear in some. Choice of Games shows only individual games. We cannot say how generous any app is with free currency, because the listings do not give that.

Plot Twister

Plot Twister is our app. It is an AI-driven story game in GBA-style pixel art. You do not play a character and you do not pick from a fixed list of branches. You whisper a thought into a character's head, from presets or typed up to 500 characters, or you inject an event, and the AI writes what happens next. You can rewind and branch, reach multiple endings, and share a Plot Twist Score recap card.

It has 10 hand-built episodes. It is rated 16+, episodes carry content warnings, and stories are labeled AI-generated. It fits you if you like Episode-style drama but want to steer the cast.
