Daily games like Wordle
If Wordle is your daily habit, the nearest puzzles are NYT's Connections and Strands, plus Squaredle and Waffle for more word play. If you want a daily that isn't about spelling, Worldle, Framed, Bandle, GeoGuessr's Daily Challenge, Decade and Title each use a different kind of knowledge. Below are ten, with what we could verify about each.
We make Title and Decade. Both are on this list, and we say plainly where each fits and where it does not.
How we chose We wanted a mix: word, geography, film, music, history and books, so there is something for each mood. In October 2026 we read each game's own site, and its App Store listing where it has one, and kept to what they say. We did not rank them. Wordle itself says: “Guess the hidden word in 6 tries. A new puzzle is available each day.” Several games below keep that six-guess feel with different content.

WORD GAMES
FRAME 01 · WORD GROUPS
NYT Connections and Strands
Connections asks you to group words that share a common thread, and the NYT page says a new puzzle is available each day. Strands gives you a letter board: find the linked words and their hidden theme, using every letter. NYT Games also has an iPhone app, which the App Store lists as free, with a 4.8 rating from 297,215 ratings as of October 2026. The NYT page says a subscription gives unlimited access, so expect some limits on the free version. Fit The natural next step after Wordle.
FRAME 02 · WORD SEARCH
Squaredle
Squaredle is a daily word-building game: you swipe across letters in a grid to find words, with leaderboards and an archive. It also offers hints that show missing words or their first letters. Fit For players who like finding many words rather than one.
FRAME 03 · WORD AND NUMBER
Waffle
Waffle calls itself the waffle-shaped daily word game. The site lists a Daily Waffle, a Deluxe version, an archive and a Number Waffle, described as a daily platter of digits. Fit One of the few options here that adds a number version.
NOT WORDS: GEOGRAPHY, FILM, MUSIC
FRAME 04 · GEOGRAPHY
Worldle
Worldle shows a country's shape. After each guess you get a distance and a direction arrow, and a new puzzle arrives every day at midnight local time. Its FAQ calls it a free online game, and the site shows a “Remove Ads” option. Fit Close in feel to Wordle, with geography as the content.
FRAME 05 · FILM
Framed
Framed shows frames from a film, and you guess the title. The site describes a daily movie with six frames, an archive for missed days, and extra modes that use a single frame, a title shot or a poster. Fit Good for film fans.
FRAME 06 · MUSIC
Bandle
Bandle is a daily music game: you guess a song while hearing as few instruments as possible. The site says you can play the latest songs for free, with themed packs and bonus rounds on web or mobile. Fit For people who like music more than words.
FRAME 07 · GEOGRAPHY
GeoGuessr Daily Challenge
GeoGuessr puts you in a street-level view and asks where you are. Its free page lists a Daily Challenge of five locations, refreshed daily, with a streak, and says no subscription is needed for that mode. Its free page lists most other modes as included in a subscription. It runs on web, iOS and Android. Fit Longer and more demanding than a Wordle round.
HISTORY AND BOOKS
FRAME 08 · HISTORY
TimeGuessr
TimeGuessr shows a historical photo, and you guess both where and when. It has a daily challenge and an iOS app. Our games like TimeGuessr guide covers it and several alternatives in detail. Fit Best if you enjoy geography and history together.
FRAME 09 · BOOKS · WE MAKE THIS ONE
Title
We make Title. Each day brings one public-domain classic novel. The first clue is its opening line. You get six clues and six guesses, and you tap the book's title from a short list rather than typing, so spelling never matters. A wrong pick strikes that title and reveals the next clue. The daily puzzle is free, and the result you share does not give the title away.
Fit Choose it if you like Wordle's rhythm but want literature, such as Austen or Doyle, instead of five-letter words. It is not for you if you want a pure vocabulary puzzle. See the Title page or get Title on the App Store.
FRAME 10 · HISTORY · WE MAKE THIS ONE
Decade
We make Decade. It shows five historical photos a day, the same five for everyone. You guess the year of each, one guess per photo, and score up to 5,000 for the set. The share card shows colour swatches and “too early” or “too late”, never the answer. Photos come from public archives, and the Library of Congress and Wikimedia Commons lead the collection. Free covers the daily set, one extra practice set a day and streak tracking.
Fit Pick it for a quick, year-only history puzzle on iPhone. It has no location guessing, so TimeGuessr or GeoGuessr suit you better if you want maps. More in our guess-the-year games guide, or get Decade on the App Store.
PICKING ONE
Want to stay with words? Try Connections, Strands, Squaredle or Waffle. Want a “games like Wordle but not words” answer? Worldle, Framed, Bandle and GeoGuessr use geography, film and music, while Decade and Title use history and books. Most of these take a few minutes, so you can run two or three in a morning.
