By downloading, installing, or using Vigil ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Reno Labs, LLC ("we," "our," or "us").
Vigil is a news and communications-media product that reports on the publicly filed financial activities of institutional investors, members of Congress, executive-branch officials, and corporate insiders. Our editorial mission is to make the public record of how powerful actors invest more accessible, more readable, and more contextual for the general public. Section 5 describes our sources, our editorial process, and our position with respect to the news-media exception in the Ethics in Government Act, 5 U.S.C. § 13107(c).
You must be at least 17 years of age to use Vigil. By using the App you represent that you are 17 or older. The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
Vigil uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your account.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account within the App. See our Privacy Policy for details on data deletion.
Vigil is free to download and offers a limited free tier. Full access to all features requires a Vigil Premium subscription.
Prices may vary by country. The price displayed in the App Store at the time of purchase applies.
Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
All subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store. To cancel or modify your subscription:
Alternatively, visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges but does not issue a refund for the current billing period.
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.
If a free trial is offered, it will begin immediately upon subscription. Any unused portion of a trial is forfeited when a paid subscription is purchased. To avoid charges, cancel before the trial period ends.
Vigil ingests publicly filed financial-disclosure records from multiple U.S. government sources:
All source records are released publicly by the originating agency. Vigil does not access private, confidential, or otherwise restricted filings.
Vigil is operated by Reno Labs, LLC as a news and communications-media product for the dissemination of public-interest financial-disclosure information to the general public. We do not republish source filings as raw data. Each filing is processed through our editorial pipeline, which includes:
Reno Labs, LLC retains independent editorial control over what is published and how. Vigil is not owned or controlled by any political party, political committee, candidate, public official, or government entity, and does not act on behalf of any of the foregoing.
The Ethics in Government Act, 5 U.S.C. § 13107(c), restricts use of OGE financial-disclosure reports for commercial purposes other than by news and communications media for dissemination to the general public. Reno Labs obtains and uses OGE Form 278 and Form 278-T reports for that excepted purpose — to report on the financial activities of senior executive-branch officials to Vigil's general public audience. We do not obtain or use these reports for unlawful purposes, for credit-rating purposes, or, directly or indirectly, in the solicitation of money for any political, charitable, or other purpose.
Vigil is a journalistic and informational product, not an investment-advisory service. Nothing in Vigil constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. The data we report is historical public information that may be delayed, incomplete, amended, or contain reporting errors by the original filer. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making any investment decision.
We make reasonable efforts to parse and present each filing accurately, but the underlying records are produced by third parties and originating agencies and may be amended or corrected after publication. We do not guarantee that data is complete, timely, or error-free, and we are not responsible for errors in the source filings themselves.
The Vigil app, including its design, code, branding, editorial commentary, classifications, diffs, signals, and other curated analyses, is owned by Reno Labs, LLC and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, scrape, or create derivative works from the App or from Vigil's editorial output without our express written permission. This restriction applies to our editorial layer; it does not extend to the underlying public government filings themselves, which are public records of the U.S. Government and not owned by Reno Labs, LLC.
You agree not to:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RENO LABS, LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of California.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice via the App or email. Your continued use of Vigil after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
