How to propagate String of Turtles
Soil (stem cuttings)
- Snip a few strands with several nodes.
- Lay the strands on top of moist, airy mix so the nodes contact the soil.
- Mist lightly and cover loosely to hold humidity.
- Keep warm in bright, indirect light until the nodes root.
Water (stem cuttings)
- Cut a stem with a couple of leaves just below a node.
- Place the node below the waterline in a small jar.
- Keep in bright, indirect light and refresh water weekly.
- Pot into airy mix once roots reach 1-2 inches.
Common String of Turtles problems & fixes
Yellow leaves
Usually overwatering. Let the soil dry more between waterings and confirm the pot drains well.
Brown, crispy leaf tips
Low humidity or salt buildup. Raise humidity and flush the soil with plain water occasionally.
Leggy growth / small new leaves
Too little light. Move to brighter indirect light and prune to encourage fuller growth.
