How to propagate African Violet
Leaf cuttings
- Cut a healthy leaf with about an inch of stalk (petiole).
- Insert the petiole into moist, airy mix at a slight angle, or root it in water first.
- Cover with a clear dome to hold humidity and keep warm in bright, indirect light.
- Tiny plantlets emerge at the base; separate and pot them once they have a few leaves.
Common African Violet problems & fixes
Yellow leaves
Usually overwatering. Let the soil dry more between waterings and confirm the pot drains well.
Brown, crispy leaf tips
Low humidity or salt buildup. Raise humidity and flush the soil with plain water occasionally.
Leggy growth / small new leaves
Too little light. Move to brighter indirect light and prune to encourage fuller growth.
