GoutShield

1. Introduction

GoutShield is a gout management app developed by Reno Labs, LLC. It helps you track gout flares, food intake, hydration, medications, uric acid levels, and weather correlations — all stored privately on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information GoutShield collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

When you use GoutShield, you may enter the following information directly into the app:

RevenueCat processes subscription data on our behalf. No personal identifiers (name, email, etc.) are shared with RevenueCat.

Information from Device Permissions

GoutShield requests the following device permissions. Each is optional — you can deny or revoke access at any time in your device Settings.

Location data is not stored. Your approximate location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve weather conditions. Only the resulting weather data (pressure, temperature, humidity) is saved locally.

HealthKit data stays on your device. We read but do not write to HealthKit, and health data is never transmitted off your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your data for advertising, user profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat processes your purchase receipts to validate subscription status. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not use your purchase data for its own purposes.

Apple WeatherKit

We use Apple's WeatherKit framework to fetch local weather conditions. Your approximate location is sent to Apple's weather service. Apple's privacy policy applies to this data: apple.com/legal/privacy

Apple HealthKit

We read body weight and step count data from Apple HealthKit with your permission. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Apple StoreKit

We use Apple's StoreKit framework to prompt for App Store reviews. No personal data is collected through this interaction.

5. Data Storage and Security

GoutShield is a local-only app. All your health data, food diary, medication records, and flare history are stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework within the app's private sandbox.

Data retention: Your data persists on your device until you delete individual records within the app or delete the app itself. We have no ability to access, recover, or delete your data remotely.

GoutShield is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at the email below.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
